Law firms are full of highly driven, talented and intelligent lawyers and business services professionals. Both authors; James Markham and Darren Mee, have had the pleasure of working with exceptionally talented individuals within law firms over the last two decades. 

 

But whilst most are talented in the practice of law, it is perhaps fair to say that there is a general lack of understanding of the business of law. 

 

Law school doesn’t prepare lawyers to run a successful legal business.  And traditional MBA programmes aren’t tailored to the unique needs of complex professional service firms, with Marketing modules typically focused on major, multinational brands; and Operations modules on widgets moving down a production line.

 

This is precisely why we created The Legal MBA.

About Us

James Markham profile picture

James Markham

James is a Chartered Management Consultant (MCMI ChMC) with 15 years’ experience working with law firm Managing Partners, COOs and CFOs.

 

He was previously a member of the UK senior management teams at Hogan Lovells and Dentons, with a directorate at Dentons covering Practice Management, Innovation, Commercial Finance, and Legal Project Management.

 

James holds an MBA and is a Fellow Chartered Accountant (FCA). He is a certified Design Thinking and Lean Six Sigma practitioner.

Darren Mee profile picture

Darren Mee

Darren is an independent consultant with over 15 years’ experience working with the largest global law firms, medium-sized national and regional practices, and ABSs.

 

He is a former Partner and Head of Department at RSM, a global Professional Services firm. His expertise covers Strategy, Marketing, Service Design, Technology and Process Improvement.

 

Darren has a published academic paper and holds an MBA alongside qualifications in Project and Programme Management and Lean Six Sigma.
